Following Your Will is the Enemy of Your Growth
Hey,
According to Dictionary,
Will is expressing the future tense.
Will and hope are the only 2 major feelings that keep us alive.
But when I thought about will, I realised that will is not just expressing the future tense but also neglecting the present tense.
For example, if you want to be fit before the next year. Your purpose will be to exercise and control your diet right ? Now think about your will. When you see something unhealthy like a chocolate, do you feel that you shouldn’t eat it. Probably not, as the your will wants to eat it.
When I was stout, I always thought of exercising to become lean but the only obstacle I had was my will. On one end of the spectrum, I wanted to be healthy and fit. But on the other, I always craved to eat food which my tongue liked such as a ton of ice cream, chocolate, pizza, etc. Eating these food is fine for a certain quantity. Eating it exceeding that quantity will harm your body.
For me,
Will is the thought of acting which makes a person happy momentarily.
You might know, I am on a mission on being fit, so I don’t eat any chocolates or ice creams or sweets. 2 days back, I was offered to to have an ice cream and a cake. Right then, I was craving to eat both of it. This was my will. But, I chose not to have any of it. This was my action against my will.
Some more such cases (which I have experienced) are, watching movies over studying, watching YouTube over sleeping, playing games over reading books, scrolling Instagram over exercising, eating unhealthy over eating healthy, etc.
There are many times in everyone’s lives when they will to do something negative (opposite of their purpose) but, deep inside, they know that they shouldn’t do it. They have to act against their will.
In most of the scenarios,
Following your will will be the enemy of your growth.
From now on, whenever you are doing something by will, step back for a second and think if you can do something better than that.
If yes, do it instead.
Have a great week!
