The Chinese Bamboo Tree
Hey,
A Chinese Bamboo tree takes 5 years to grow. You might think that it is because of the insane height it reaches. Answer is no. The farmer/caretaker has to irrigate and nurture the tree for 5 years. In those 5 years, the tree barely grows any tall. The actual growth happens in the last 5 weeks.
What would you say is the actual duration of the growth - 5 years or 5 weeks ?
I would say 5 years because at any point of time, if he doesn’t give water or nurture the tree, it would die. After many days of hard work, the tree doesn’t get its needs for a singular day and it is gone. He has to work for all those years to see the actual growth and get the benefits from it.
Our goals works the same way.
Once we initiate a goal. We have to work for extended periods of time for many weeks/months/years to actually fulfil our dreams. We have to work for it every single day. One day off, and our mind finds distractions and excuses. (In some cases you have to slow down, but not that much that you make up your mind to drop the grand dream.)
The time from initialising your dream to actually seeing the growth is same as the 5 years of growing the Chinese Bamboo tree. The growth or success you achieve is same as the last 5 weeks of growing the tree.
You knew it was hard, but you did it hard.
The harder the battle, the sweeter the victory.
Have a great rest of your week! ☺️
Rudra xoxo
