The Secret of Happiness
The term happiness is used in the context of mental or emotional states, including positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. It is also used in the context of life satisfaction, subjective well-being, flourishing and well-being. (Wikipedia)
The question is, how to get this pleasant feeling more often ?
We all set goals for our life. Daily goal, weekly goals, monthly goal or new year’s resolution. We set goals and try to complete them thus convincing ourselves to be happy once the goals are accomplished. But, when we accomplish them we have new ones. New targets to achieve everyday, every week, every month and every year. Goals are prioritized more than systems (or how we completed them). System is the route map to make things happen. It is the long journey while goals are short term thoughts. We make our own systems to reach to our targets.
Thus, we get happy for a short term period. We neglect the system so, we neglect the long term happiness. The key to happiness is the enjoy the process of accomplishing the goals. You may think that most of the systems doesn’t reap any visual benefits, but for our advantage the benefits are stored.
When you start to exercise, you don’t see any instant gains but rather see them after a few weeks or months. When we exercise, we store the benefits such as increased stamina and better endurance. We rarely realize these results but these are the ones which helps you in the long term.
The secret of happiness is to enjoy the process of achieving the result rather than the result obtained by the process.
If you practice this every single moment of your day, I betcha you will be happy most of the time.
